Steve Wynn was the original inventor of Bellagio. AtlandiaDesign, a Mirage Resorts, Inc. subsidiary, manageddesign, construction, and furnishing. The facility’s creation came after the demolition and purchase of Dunes, alegendary casino and hotel, on October 27, 1993, just days before the opening of Treasure Island Las Vegas.DeRuyter, Butler was Bellagio’s designer. Peter Smith was the project manager. The construction of the Bellagiostarted in May 1996. Bellagio’s original design was US$1.6billion. Construction cost: US$1.6billion.Roger Thomas, a four-timeArchitectural Digest 100 winner, designed the interior of Bellagio. Roger Thomas wasWynn Design & Development’s executive vice president for design until January 2020. Roger Thomas is still theprincipal of Roger Thomas Collection.Bellagio was opened just before 11 p.m. on October 15, 1998. It cost US$88million to complete the ceremony. To beinvited to the grand closing, VIPs were required to give US$1,000 per person to The Foundation Fighting Blindness orUS$3,500 for a couple. This allowed them to stayin Bellagio’s suite rooms overnight. The entertainment started withSteve Wynn giving an opening speech of 40 minutes. He was followed by O, the Cirque Du Soleil production. Thenight’s entertainment featured John Pizarrelli, George Bugatti and Michael Feinstein (a New York recording artist andcabaret singer). It was one of the most costly hotels ever constructed when it opened.It became an MGM Mirage property in 2000 when Mirage Resorts and MGM Grand Inc. merged to form MGMMirage. The company was renamed MGM Resorts International to expand its reach with international brands in 2010.Fountains of Bellagio are a large, choreographed waterfallWith music and light performances. These performances are located in front of Bellagio Hotel and can be seen frommany vantage points along the Strip from both the street and nearby structures. Every 30 minutes during theafternoon and early evening, as well as every 15 minutes between 8 and midnight. The water show begins twominutes prior to the start. Two minuteslater, the nozzles break the surface of the water and the lights that illuminatethe tower change to purple (usually), red, blue, or white for some music. High winds can cause shows to be cancelledwithout notice, but they are usually less powerful in suchconditions. To avoid interfering with an event, a single showcan be skipped. For special events, such as weddings and birthdays, additional shows may be scheduled. Thefountain show is choreographed to a variety of songs, such as “The Star-Spangled Banner” from Whitney Houston,”Time to Say Goodbye”, “God Bless the USA”, “Your Song” and “Viva Las Vegas” (both by Elvis Presley), “Luck Be aLady” of Frank Sinatra, “My Heart will Go On” of Celine Dion, along with a three-song medley of Tiesto.A conservatoryis also available at the hotel. The Conservatory is subject to five seasons: Chinese New Year (spring,summer, autumn, winter), and fall (fall, winter). The Conservatory celebrates Chinese New Year from Januarythrough mid-March with an Orchid display. Italso displays the Chinese Zodiac animal. Next, the theme shifts tospring, which usually lasts till May and features both a butterfly house and many tropical flowers. The all-Americansummer show at Bellagio, which features a large replica of the LibertyBell and several American flags in theConservatory, takes place during Memorial Day Weekend
