History of the Iron Mountain Ranch

Iron Mountain Ranch is located on Highway 160 at the eastern border of Pahrump. It is approximately midway between Las Vegas and Death Valley National Park, California. This area was originally known as “Wild Horse Mesa”. In 1867 Mexican rancher Diego Delgado purchased this land from the State of Mexico. His ranch extended east to a low ridge marked today by the long-gone Delgado Spring, which provided water for himself and his animals. The Iron Mountain Ranch Las Vegas Camping and Lodging Options the Iron Mountain Ranch is one of the best all-around recreation destinations in Nevada. The campground and hotel accommodations are good – not great (but pretty good), while The Range 702 has just about every kind of shooting sport activity you could be looking for. The ranch is located about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas, on highway 93 towards Lake Mead. The excellent infrastructural development includes a new road that connects to Highway 93, so it’s easy to get to from The Strip and Boulder City area.

Like many other Nevada attractions, there has been considerable improvement at The Iron Mountain Ranch in recent years. The main building now houses three “barns,” made for weddings and other special events. The main building itself has been vastly enlarged, so now it looks more like a lodge with some rustic touches thrown in. The two new “barns” are very nice, too, although smaller than The Longhorn Room and The Homestead Ballroom of the older part of The Iron Mountain Ranch.

There’s considerably less to do at The Range 702 portion of The Iron Mountain Ranch, which is basically just a shooting range. But there’s plenty to do for gun enthusiasts and sports shooters! The store carries a full line of firearms, ammunition, optics, and accessories for the beginner or seasoned professional.
